Name a new boat on the Vltava
On Friday 7 August 2015, a new boat will sail on the Vltava. Its task will be to provide transport on the route of ferry P7 between Holešovice, Štvanice and Karlín. Prague 7, in cooperation with the other organisers of the ferry, is looking for a name for the new vessel. The name will be chosen from suggestions submitted by the public, which can be sent to: privoz@praha7.cz or posted on the Facebook page of Prague 7.
"We would like the new ferry on the Vltava to become firmly established in the wider public consciousness. There is no doubt that this will be helped by the boat being easy to remember and easy for citizens to identify. That is why we and the other partners agreed that it is best to let the boat be named directly by its future passengers," said Deputy Mayor of Prague 7 Ondřej Mirovský.
"Suggestions for what name would best suit the new boat that will connect Holešovice, Štvanice and Karlín can be sent to the e-mail: privoz@praha7.cz or posted on the Facebook page of Prague 7, no later than Friday 31 July, by 12 noon. Anyone can take part. All interesting ideas are welcome. Apart from the suggested name of the boat, please also remember to give your name and contact details," added Mayor of Prague 7 Jan Čižinský, who was at the origin of the idea of establishing a ferry in this location.
The final naming of the boat will be chosen by representatives of the organisations that are involved in running the ferry. The author of the winning suggestion will be invited to the official launch of the ferry, will take part in the ceremonial christening of the boat and the first cruise. Small gifts and tokens from partners will also be prepared for them.
The new ferry will sail on the Vltava for the first time on Friday 7 August 2015. In the afternoon, a river picnic on Štvanice island with an accompanying programme for the whole family will be ready.
The new ferry, which will be integrated into the Prague Integrated Transport system, is being prepared by the Prague 7 Municipal District in cooperation with the Capital City of Prague, the ROPID organisation and the Pražská paroplavební společnost.
