The steamboat Vltava hosted the debate "The Future of the Riverside"
10 September 2019On Tuesday 10 September, representatives of the Prague Riverside, the Public Space Office and the architect of the riverside revitalisation met aboard the historic steamboat Vltava and, together with guests, discussed the future of Prague's riverside areas.
Prague's riverside areas have in recent years become a phenomenon attracting the attention not only of Czechs but also of tourists from all corners of the world. Among the most popular places to meet up with friends in Prague is the riverside on Rašínovo nábřeží. The opening lecture on the history of the riverside reminded everyone that, in the past, the embankments served above all for landing and mooring boats carrying various kinds of goods and materials and for providing access to the river for carts. With changes in our way of life have come changes in the use of the riverside as a cultural centre.
The Steamboat Company has joined this initiative; thanks to that, in fine weather you can enjoy aboard the boat Primátor Dittrich not only freshly grilled treats but also a regular cultural programme. Performers have included, for example, the German children's choir Magdeburger Knabenchor.
