Ceremonial christening of the šíf with Minister of Transport Dan Ťok in attendance

The Vltavan Association, in cooperation with TCP and a number of other partners, is organising an event titled Water transport on the Vltava a hundred years ago, which is taking place from 17 September to 27 September.
On Rašínovo nábřeží, the building of a raft will be in progress and the wooden šíf — a boat, which was used to transport cargo throughout the history of Vltava navigation, will be presented to the public. The šíf has been built according to plans from the 1930s and the raft will be built using traditional methods.
The Vltavan Association has succeeded in having timber rafting and Vltava navigation included on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, so spectators will be able to see a living national cultural monument.
On the pontoon behind the railway bridge, on 23 September, an event for the public took place featuring demonstrations of crafts and the traditions of the Podskalí district. The ceremonial christening of the šíf was performed by Minister of Transport Dan Ťok, accompanied by other guests, on 24 September.
