The top event of this year’s season is without any doubt the Magical cruise on the Vltava steamboat to Dresden. The cruise will take place between 6-11 July to honour the first steamboat river cruise that took place in Bohemia 170 years ago. The Bohemia – the first steamboat on the Vltava river in Prague – had on its deck a very famous passenger, Hans Christian Andresen, who then described the cruise in one of his books. Hence the steamboats in Bohemia earned their place in world literature.

Dresden will be a place of a prestigious parade of steamboats. The Prague Steamboat Company was invited mainly thanks to fact that the Vltava steamboat was reconstructed into its original apperance of the 1940s. The Vltava is by far the most admired boat on the river of the same name and one of the most popular Prague tourist attractions.

The actual cruise to Dresden will take two days, two days the Vltava will be in Dresden and there are two days for the return journey as well. Upon request the Prague Steamboat Company will organize accommodation in Dresden or should you be interested in one-day cruise only, there will be a special bus arranged that will take you to the boat in the morning and back to Prague from Dresden in the evening. The family fare (two adults and two children) is 850 CZK, for individuals 540 CZK, fare including the bus 740 CZK and fare for a return cruise 850 CZK.
